Luke is a one year old! I‘ve missed quite a few updates over these last couple months, So now that he is one year old, I couldn’t resist 🙂 On his birthday, we had some friends together after dinner and he had his first cupcake. He’s since had some bites of cake here and there, And it’s safe to say he loves it! We weren’t worried, That’s for sure. then, this last weekend, we dedicated him in front of our friends and family at church. I can’t believe how quickly one year has come and gone! here are a few things that he and his little one year old self is up to.. Continue reading “We’ve got a one year old on our hands!”
Our little man is now eating SOLIDS. Well.. they’re not really solid at all, but whatever the case, this six month old loves them. We kinda dragged our feet about feeding him because it just felt like a big leap into the next part of babyhood (diapers included..).
I kept making it this huge thing where I needed a bunch of time to make it all, freeze it all and so on. So to fend off the procrastination, I finally went to Whole Foods and picked up a few jars to get us started. So here we are! Feeding Luke real food like blubbering crazy people.. But thankfully he loves it and we can get on board with that! Oh parenthood.. 🙂
+now 26 inches and almost 17 pounds, go baby go!
+”ah-da-da” and tons of other sounds and half-words are on the regular over here 🙂
(we officially have a babbler!)
+exclusively nursing still (and it’s great!), but starting solids soon
+almost crawling, which i have no idea if i like that or not! ha! but very good at the booty shake in the air
+sleeps well at night in the “magic sleepsuit” which is truly magic
+prefer long afternoon naps and a morning catnap (that took awhile to hammer down for moi)
+love the pool (at least he did on our very warm vacation)
+still looks like there’s a little ginger going on, but we think it changes all the time
+gets very playful and silly with daddy, especially at the end of the workday and before dinner
+loves remote controls, phones, the camera monitor near the crib
+loves being out in nature and touching plants and water and leaves
I’m proud to say that smile up there was caused by me 😉
So today my baby boy slept in my arms like he did when he was a firstborn (all nestled in my arms, cradle style).. twice!! He hasn’t wanted to be in that position since his “sit-up” muscles have kicked in (although he’s not sitting up quite yet, almost!) and so I imagine it’s at least been a good two months. It was heaven. I treasure those little moments with him, because I’m acutely aware of the quickness of things.
It’s so strange and incredible all at once. These little beings grow before your eyes and while I long for the next stage, I am clinging to the last one at the same time. I understand wanting to bottle it all up and be able to pop it open when the time is right. But alas, it just doesn’t work that way!
But I’m in love with this stage. Luke’s belly laugh is really coming into itself and it’s delicious. His hair is growing longer and he’s beginning to burst out of some of his pants (so many highwaters at the moment.. sorry son!). He loves engaging and interacting with people, playing with his big bird stuffed animal and swatting and grabbing all his rattling and colorful toys. He tries to crawl and is starting to have a preference about everything.
What stage is your favorite with the little ones in your life? 🙂
+belly squeaking and laughing.. it’s the cutest
+babbling much more and distinct “la la” and sometimes a “ma” pops out!
+loves toys (specifically a musical monkey and big bird stuffed animal)
+much faster nurser than before (praise hands in the air!)
+loves walks by the beach and strolling in the stroller
+approx. one nap a day ends up in the stroller 🙂
+has discovered trees, thumb sucking, rolling, my phone
+runs warm like daddy, sweaty child
+loves playtime with daddy, i love watching these boys play together
+got his first virus & sore throat, woke up every hour whimpering the first night, so so sad 😦
+probably has entered four month sleep regression but his cuddles are worth it
we love you little boy!!
I so understand why people tell you to write down a birth story as soon as humanly possible because goodness gracious, the vividness of a day seems to fade so quickly once all the excitement and emotions have died down and you have your sweet little bundle (extremely loud bundle at times!) in your arms. But even though we’re nearly ten (ten!) weeks out, it’s almost like time stands still when I think back on the day we met Luke.
