Memory picture

mem·o·ry pic·ture [memuh-ree pik-cher]
noun, verb
1. mental impression retained in images
2. where one pretends to take a picture with their eyes, and make a visual memory

Since I was a little kid, I’ve had this saying about taking a “memory picture”..you’ll have to excuse my definition party above..but basically when you’re in a wonderful moment, and you don’t want to forget it, you take a memory picture. {I’m also a smeller, I don’t smell (except like roses I’m sure except after working out, or missed-the-alarm mornings maybe..) but I smell to remember, ya know?} So anyways, I used to take memory pictures a lot  {or nowadays if I forgot a camera}. And they would look like this:
One thing I love about blogging is that it gives you a chance to online scrapbook..record memories, experiences, and remember what you really thought about it all in the moment. And I love that. Being able to look back and see what I thought (and laugh maybe) and enjoy my memories.
But I just don’t want to get stuck with one way only. I don’t want to just remember the moment, because it’s fun to look back and see what you’ve done and what you’ve thought. But I don’t want to just record it all and be {someday} that mom who their kids remember through a lens of some recording contraption {think: big fat iPhone smack dab in da face, watching kids through the screen}.
So this is just me reminding myself to take real pictures, and memory pictures, and smell things more.

  1. I keep a scrapbook… like a big, clunky, full of paper and movie tickets, nobody does this anymore kind of scrapbook and I love it 🙂 It's not only fun to make, but I know down the road I'm going to love having something physical to hold and touch as I flip through memories.
